On November 6-10, 2023, a group of employees of the Tashkent Medical Academy participated in the next training course on “Nutrition and Dietology” at the Medipol University of Istanbul, Turkey, within the framework of the European Union ERASMUS+ educational grant BERNICA project.

In this training course, the professor of FH JOANNEUM University, the president of the Austrian Sports Nutrition Society, Dr. Manuela Konrad, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of Medipol University of Turkey and Istanbul Institute of Dietetics and Nutrition, professors Gulgun Ersoy, Indrani Kalkan, Abdulbari Bener, Fatmanur Özyurek Arpa, Gokhan Baysoy, Mehmet Kochak, Tashkent Medical Academy from Uzbekistan, representatives of medical universities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan also participated. They introduced the scientific work done in the field of nutrition and dietology at Medipol University.

President of the Austrian Sports Nutrition Society Dr. Manuela Konrad introduced the status of tasks performed in groups. During the project, 3 main modules (A, B, C) were created, module A – nutrition and dietetics in various diseases, module B – strategic perspectives of nutrition, module C – nutrition in specific groups. In turn, it is decided to create PPT-presentations, syllabi, lectures for educational sessions, dividing each module into small groups. Dr. Manuela Konrad acknowledged the work of each group and mentioned their achievements and shortcomings. Ways to eliminate shortcomings were studied, programs and plans for its development, goals were drawn up.

The BERNICA project of the ERASMUS+ educational grant is an international grant aimed at developing proper nutrition, nutrition and dietetics among the population of Central Asian countries. Participation of the Tashkent Medical Academy in such large-scale projects not only increases the prestige of the university, but also serves to develop cooperation in the field of nutrition and dietology.
